The Postal Backpack No. 1 is modelled after the 19th-century US postal bags that hung on cranes next to railroads waiting to be grabbed by moving trains.

For this backpack we use 2.2mm water-resistant vegetable-tanned Italian leather. It took years to find the perfect hides in terms of density, strength, and softness. Now we import the leather ourselves and enjoy the assurance that the backpacks will last and mature for generations to come. Snow, rain, and sun will deepen the color of the bag. Frequent use will soften the hide over time.

The closure is solid brass and comes from a small foundry in England where the hardware is hand-tooled and manufactured in small quantities.

The bag is equipped with an interior divider (fits a 13" Macbook Pro), a large zippered pocket (10" x 12"), and a convenient brass key-hook. The bag is adjustable in size with the brass slide on the front. This way a 15" laptop will fit easily into the main compartment. A small zippered pocket on the back panel allows security and easy access to your wallet or phone (fits an iPhone 10+).
